Criteria for Acceptance

  • A desire to have a Catholic education with an emphasis on educating the “whole child”
  • Successful placement on the entrance exam
  • Student must meet the OLPH school age requirements. (Transitional Kindergarten must be 4 years old by September 1 of the TK year and Kindergarten must turn 5 years by September 1 of their Kindergarten year). The age requirement is a California State Law and is non-negotiable.
  • Parents agree to the Statement of Commitments found on the Statement of Parent Commitment Form.

Admissions Timeline

Step One

    Complete and Submit the following form:

Step Two

 Submission of Application Documents and Testing Fee. The following documents are required before full acceptance to OLPH School can be made:

  1. Download the OLPH admissions application to print. our_lady_of_perpetual_help_application-9.pdf​
  2. Birth Certificate issued from the state in its original form
  3. Testing Fee – $50.00 nonrefundable (must be paid on day of testing)
  4. Baptismal Certificate – original
  5. Verification of OLPH Parish Registration / Parish Envelope & number if applicable
  6. First Communion Certificate if applicable
  7. Up to Date Immunization Record (yellow card)
  8. Report cards for the past two years
  9. Standardized test scores for the past two years

Step Three

Your child will take an entrance test to determine their individual achievement level. Each test is age / grade appropriate. In the case of the Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students, the test measures readiness for our all-day TK & Kindergarten programs. 

During this time while your child is taking the entrance test you may go on a School Tour. You will be able to visit the classrooms, we will answer any questions you may have about Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and  you will be able to see first hand all that is unique about our school. This is only done during the school day (8:30 am to 2 pm). Tours must be scheduled at the time of test scheduling.


Notification of acceptance will be sent within two weeks of testing and interview provided we have received all of the documents from Step Two.

Transitional Kindergarten Program
The Transitional Kindergarten is the 1st year of a two year program to prepare students for success academically, socially and spiritually. Students will be engaged in developmentally appropriate activities focused on socio-emotional skills, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, religion, physical education, music and art. These concepts will be encompassed through cross-curricular, integrated units. These units will be utilize a variety of resources such as informational texts, hands-on activities, and technology. Student will matriculate to Kindergarten from the Transitional Kindergarten the following September. 

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the Transitional Kindergarten will focus on the development of the whole child. Standards, as set forth by the Los Angeles Archdiocese, will be achieved through developmental activities that particularly focus on social development and nurturing the creativity within each child. We make it a priority to integrate our Catholic values and School-Wide Learning Expectations (SLEs). The purpose is to prepare students to transition to Kindergarten smoothly possessing the skills and social awareness to be ready for the Standards for the 2nd year program in Kindergarten.
