OLPH DISTINGUISHED GRADUATES
This award is sponsored by the National Catholic Educational Association and is intended to honor graduates of Catholic elementary/middle schools who have made a contribution to American life and/or the Catholic Church. The recipient must have graduated from the Catholic elementary/middle school at least ten years prior to presenting the award. The individual school selects the awardee and NCEA confirms the nomination.

The Ashley Vargas Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to the memory of Ashley Vargas, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School Graduate Class of 1999. Ashley attended Warren High School and graduated as a National Merit Scholar with a 4.6 Grade Point Average. Ashley was a Varsity Cheerleader at Warren High School for 2 years. She went on to attend the University of Southern California as a Broadcast Journalism Major. Ashley was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority at U.S.C. She passed away at the age of 18 in February 2004.
The Fund has been established by friends and family to encourage OLPH Eighth Grade students to follow in Ashley’s footsteps by focusing on academics and furthering their education. To qualify for a scholarship award, OLPH 8th Grade students must exhibit a love for writing, school spirit and a desire to pursue a college education.
A committee consisting of members of Ashley’s family and the OLPH community administer the Fund.
