Catholic Schools Week 2012-Catholic Schools: Faith, Academics, Service

Catholic Schools Week is fast approaching.  Our celebration begins on Monday, January 23rd and concludes on Saturday, January 28th with our annual Catholic Schools Week Mass and Open House.  During the week, we focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities, and our nation.  We build community awareness of and the involvement in Catholic schools throughout the country.  We honor those who contribute to the success of our schools-students, faculty and staff, and community supporters.

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2012 is “Catholic Schools: Faith, Academics, and Service.”  The theme expresses three priorities that make Catholic schools stand out from other educational institutions.  Children learn about faith — not just basic Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God.   We concentrate on academics which, in Catholic schools, are held to the highest standards, so students can reach their highest potential.  We practice service — giving time, talent, and effort to help others — as an expression of both faith and good citizenship.  This combined focus on faith, academics, and service prepares students for full and meaningful lives.

The Catholic Schools Week 2012 logo is a  rectangle with the words “Catholic Schools” in red across the bottom. The “t” in Catholic is a purple cross.    From the top of the cross flows a green banner that proclaims “Faith. Academics. Service.”

Please join me in saying thank you to our teachers, staff, administrators, priests, parents, volunteers and everyone else involved in running Our Lady of Perpetual Help School.  Through their dedication and commitment, they make our school an excellent example of how Catholic schools are models of Faith, Academics, and Service.
